Zombie Spokesman

The Zombie Spokesperson is a character who exclusively appeared in the commercials produced by Sega to promote Rise of Nightmares. A total of four commercials, featuring the Zombie Spokesperson were made.

The first commercial shows the Zombie Spokesperson inside a kitchen introducing himself as undead, therefore the "perfect" person to introduce the Kinect's new super fun game. The Spokesperson enters the living room, interrupting a couple who were playing a Kinect dancing game, making it apparent that he had invaded their home. The Spokesperson then introduces the couple to a new zombie game and proceeds to insert a Rise of Nightmares CD into the Kinect. The couple reluctantly plays along to try the new game, while the Spokesperson is entertained by the game's violence and gore. As the commercial ends, the Spokesperson took a liking to the couple's pet cat, Mr. Spats, and plans on eating it. The woman tries to save their pet by stabbing the Spokesperson with a fork, much to his annoyance.

The second commercial shows an elderly woman sitting on the sofa, watching her teenage grandchildren playing a Kinect dancing game. The grandchildren asked their grandmother if she wanted to play as well, but she turns them down. The grandmother then begins to spout profanity (censored) and ranted that she was in no mood to play such light-hearted games, seeing the Kinect as military-grade technology that would be put to better use for killing zombies. The camera then zooms out to focus on the Zombie Spokesperson, who assures the viewers that Rise of Nightmares has no karaoke, no dancing, only pure violence and gore, just the way the family like it. As the commercial ends, the Spokesperson tells the viewers to go but lots of Rise of Nightmares copies or he'll eat their brains.

The third commercial shows a young man forcibly strapped down to a chair. The man looks visibly distraught as he's being forced to watch something horrible. As the camera pans out, it turns out the man was being forced to watch a light-hearted Kinect dancing game. The camera then zooms out to focus on the Zombie Spokesperson, asking the viewers if "smiley, dancing games" aren't their thing. He then introduces Rise of Nightmares, which features "no dancing, no karaoke, no happy, bouncy aerobics, just good old fashioned violence and gore." As the commercial ends, the Spokesperson pulls out his ear, amazed by it.

The fourth and final commercial is shot as a mockumentary where the Zombie Spokesperson is portrayed as a real-life zombie, showing the "behind-the-scenes" process of making the commercial. The Director comments on how different it is to work with an actual zombie and takes getting used to. One such incident happened when the Director told the Spokesperson's Agent that they were unable to provide a dead cat as the Spokesperson requested. As the Agent informs the Spokesperson, he threw a tantrum and walks off the set, refusing to work. The crew are frustrated as their "star" had just walked out, but a crew member manages to procure a roadkill raccoon, much to their disgust. The Spokesperson loved their "gift" and production on the commercial went smoothly afterwards.
